Allegany County tops state in suicide rate

Allegany County ranks the highest in the state in suicide. According to the Allegany County Department of Health, the suicide rate in the county is nearly twice that of the rest of the state. Given those facts, this week’s Safety and Mental Health Training for Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Personnel was timely and valuable. Allegany County Undersheriff Kevin Monroe said it’s training that law enforcement turned its back on for years.
