Police investigate two accidental shootings with 12 hours


Police are investigating two accidental shootings. In Allegany County, a father accidentally shot his son last night. State Police arrested 47-year old Adam J. Prentice charging him with Reckless Endangerment 1st degree and Assault 3rd after police say an antique Winchester rifle was recklessly discharged by the suspect in his residence off route 417 behind the former Allentown School building. The discharged round traveled through a hallway and living room wall striking the suspects 19 yo son in his left arm. The victim was transported via ambulance to Jones memorial Hospital in Wellsville and the wound was deemed to be non life threatening. The defendant was arraigned in the Town of Bolivar Court. Investigation is continuing.

Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Deputies are also investigating an accidental shooting. It happened on Hebner Hill Road in Otto. Deputies said 42-year old Charles Biniarz sustained a gunshot wound to his hand as he attempted to holster his .40 caliber handgun. He was flown by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial in Rochester with a non-life threatening injury.
