Murder/suicide ruled in Northern Tier deaths Elderly couple's bodies found at house

Authorities have ruled the deaths of a Tioga County couple found AT their home Wednesday a murder/suicide.
The bodies of Madeline Smith, 72, and Warren Smith, 77, of Palmer Road, Farmington Township, were discovered around noon Wednesday by a family member.
Both victims suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest, according to state police at Mansfield. A large-caliber handgun was found nearby.
Based on the evidence, state police investigators and the Tioga County District Attorney's Office concluded that Madeline Smith fatally shot her husband and then killed herself with a gunshot.
The state police forensic services unit from Montoursville and the Tioga County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene. No unresolved issues remain, state police said.
