UPDATE: WOMAN HAS BEEN FOUND OKAY.
Officials with the Underwood Manor assisted living facility contacted the sheriff s office to report that a resident, Carol A. Bierfelt, age 66, had left the Underwood Manor around 1400 hours on 12/15/2011. Ms. Bierfelt went to a doctors appointment at the Olean Medical Group via taxi and never returned to the Manor. An area check of the grounds at the Olean Medical Group and the nearby Olean General Hospital was negative. An investigation into the whereabouts of Ms. Bierfelt, who is mentally challenged, is underway. Area law enforcement agencies were notified of the disappearance of Carol A. Bierfeft and are assisting in the search. Ms. Bierfelt was last seen wearing a blue jacket with fur on he collar. She wears glasses, stands at 5 feet 2 inches in height, is of a medium build, has short brown hair, brown eyes, and has a light complexion. She also uses a walker. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Carol A. Bierfelt is urged to contact the Cattaraugus County Sheriff s Office at 716-938-9191. All information will be kept confidential.
