McKean County Drug Task Force

A New Jersey man was sentenced to three years in prison last month after confessing that over a period of three years he repeatedly transported cocaine from New Jersey to a McKean County connection. According to court documents from the U.S. District Court, Adrian Alfred of Jersey City, N.J., from around January 2007 and continuing through Aug. 5, 2010, conspired with others to transport and distribute cocaine from New Jersey to Centre County and beyond. The Centre Daily Times reports Alfred was arrested Aug. 5, 2010 with 400 grams of cocaine near the Milesburg interchange of Interstate 80. Alfred reportedly retained ties in McKean County after having worked in the finance department at Adelphia Communications in Coudersport.

He reportedly transported, by motor vehicle, between 200 and 600 grams of cocaine each trip at the request of a former co-worker from Adelphia. According to McKean County District Attorney Ray Learn, the case against Alfred originated from an investigation by the McKean County Drug Task Force, when an arrest reaped information that was later passed to the state attorney general and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, who made the arrest from the information provided. Learn noted that Alfred was transporting the cocaine from New Jersey to Milesburg where he would pass the drugs on to his McKean County connection. It was during one of these transactions that Alfred was arrested. “This is a good example of how we try to work up the chain to get the bigger dealers,” Learn said. “Anytime we can keep drugs from coming into the county, it is a good thing.” The Centre Daily Times also reported that Alfred was facing a more rigid sentence, but was credited for pleading guilty to conspiracy and for working with authorities. In addition to serving a three-year prison term, Alfred will also have to pay $2,100 in fines and will be on supervised release for three years after he is freed, records read.
