From Congressman Tom Reed

Statement from Congressman Tom Reed encouraging people to remember veterans on Veterans Day:

“Veterans Day has special meaning as we come together to remember and reflect on the sacrifices made by those who have worn the uniforms of our Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy.  A day to thank and pay tribute to men and women who defended our freedom and our way of life.  I encourage everyone to pause for a moment on Veterans Day and thank a veteran and perhaps say a prayer for those who currently serve, particularly those in distant lands.

I am not a veteran, but my father was a career Army officer who served in World War II and Korea.  It was his hope that his children wouldn’t have to live with the threat of war and would have more peaceable opportunities for public service.  I know that we are all united by that same hope.  In the meantime, we express respect and admiration for those who have served and for those who currently fight for our freedom.”
