State Police in Painted Post arrest man on Kidnapping and Weapons Charges


The New York State Police at SP Painted Post report the arrest of David M. Kio Jr, age 27 residing at 2488 Ginnan Road in the Town of Caton for KIDNAPPING 2nd DEGREE and CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF A WEAPON 3rd DEGREE.
KIO is accused of abducting a female acquaintance and her young child in the Village of Horseheads at knife point and then forcing her to drive to his residence in the Town of Caton, where Kio then assaulted the female on March 5th, 2012.
Early this morning the New York State Police Special Operations Response Team (SORT), State Police Aviation Unit, Painted Post based Troopers and Horseheads Village Police Officers executed a search warrant at Kio’s residence, where a quantity of firearms were seized.
Kio was later arrested at a motel in East Corning by Painted Post based Troopers and Corning City Police.
Kio is awaiting arraignment in the Caton Town Court on the above listed charges.
Similar charges are pending with the Horseheads Village Police Department.
