• 2/10/2012 11:23pm. Troopers arrested 18-year old Spencer Darby of Warsaw. He was issued a court appearance ticket for Unlawful Possession of Maihuana.
• 2/11/2012 4:24pm. State Police arrested 47-year old Lisa Darling of Wellsville. She was stopped on Crosser Road in the Town of Allen and charged with DWI. She was released on a court appearance ticket.
• 2/11/2012 4:15pm. State Police arrested 43-year old Langford Whitford of Cuba. He was stopped on Crosser Road in the Town of Allen and charged with DWI. He was released on a court appearance ticket.

BELFAST MAN CHARGED AFTER ALLEGED LEWD ACTS

Belfast, New York - On January 26, 2012, the New York State Police - Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Amity, New York arrested and charged Dan Rutar, age 49,of Belfast, New York, with public lewdness and endangering the welfare of a child. Following a quick investigation, Rutar was arrested for committing lewd acts in front of a thirteen year old male while in the Town of Belfast over the past two weeks.

Rutar was arraigned before the honorable Town of Angelica Justice and remanded to the Allegany County Jail in lieu of $1000 cash bail or $2000 bond.

Allegany County man accused of bilking Department of Labor to the tune of $5,000

An Allegany County man faces 17 felonies for allegedly bilking the state’s unemployment office out of $5,000….while working at Dresser-Rand. 32-year old Nickolas Little of Little Genesee was charged by state troopers with 16 counts of filing a false instrument and one count of Grand Larceny. 

Olean woman arrested in Erie County

At 10:10 p.m., Saturday night, Elma based Troopesr arrested SARAH MORRIS, age 21, of Olean for DWI after she drove off the road into the center median on ST-219 in the Town of Orchard Park. MORRIS was transported to SP Boston for arrest processing where breath analysis revealed her blood alcohol content to be .15%. MORRIS was released to a family member to appear in Orchard Park Town Court on 1/23/12.

On January 5^th, 2012, Trooper ERIC HAGLUND arrested JOSEPH QUATTRONE, 48, of Ridgway, PA, for Driving While Ability Impaired. QUATTRONE was pulled over on Route 62 in Kiantone for a traffic violation, and after failing several field sobriety tests, QUATTRONE was placed under arrest. QUATTRONE was transported to the State Police barracks in Jamestown where he provided a breath sample of .07. QUATTRONE was then processed, issued tickets returnable to the Town of Kiantone Court, and released to a sober individual.

Two Charged With DWI in Overnight Arrests

  At 1:42 a.m. Saturday morning, Elma based State Police arrested SHANNON M. WINDNAGLE, age 29, of Delevan, N.Y. for DWI after she was stopped for speeding on Seneca Street in the Town of Elma. WINDNAGLE was transported to the Elma State Police Station for arrest processing where breath analysis revealed her blood alcohol content to be .13%. WINDNAGLE was released to a family member and is scheduled to appear in Elma Town Court on 01/11/12.

At 5:55 a.m. Saturday morning, Elma based State Police arrested JASON P HAVERNICK, age 33, of Cheektowaga, N.Y. for DWI after he was stopped for crossing the centerline on Clinton Street in the Town of Elma. HAVERNICK was transported to the Elma State Police Station for arrest processing where breath analysis showed his blood alcohol content to be .11%. HAVERNICK was released to a family member and is scheduled to appear in Elma Town Court on 01/12/12.

Allegany County man jailed for allegedly harming his young daughter

On December 30, 2011 following a joint investigation involving the New York State Police and Child Protective Services in both Allegany and Erie counties, a 20 year old Town of Centerville, N.Y. man was arrested for two felony counts of Assault in the Second Degree and also endangering the welfare of a child.

The suspect, Cody A. Peck of Fitch Farm Rd. in the T/Centerville is accused of injuring his 6 month old daughter on two separate occasions in the months of November and December of this year.

The child is currently being cared for at Women’s and Children’s hospital in Buffalo.

Peck was processed at SP Amity and arraigned in the Town of Scio court by Town Justice James Ames. Peck was subsequently committed to the Allegany County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.

'Move Over' Law expanded, includes tow trucks

The "Move Over" traffic safety law in New York has been expanded to include tow truck operators and other maintenance vehicles. 

The amendment to the law will take effect on January 1, 2012.  It requires that motorists change lanes, when possible, when approaching an incident with a vehicle with flashing red or amber lights.  When there is only one lane, or it is not possible to move over, the driver must slow down.

The expanded law includes "hazard vehicles," like tow trucks, HELP trucks and other highway maintenance trucks.

"The men and women who work on our highways perform essential, often life saving, services. It's always been common sense to move over to give them room to do their jobs, and now it's the law," said New York State Police Superintendent Joseph D'Amico.

"Having been involved in two roadside accidents -- one of them causing serious injury to a customer - I can attest to the need for this law. I am grateful that New York's 'Move Over' law has been expanded to cover drivers of tow trucks and other hazard vehicles," said Tom Brennan, president-elect of the Empire State Towing and Recovery Association.

Sex offense arrest

On December 16, 2011 Warsaw based Troopers arrested SCOTT J. MARSHALL, 19 years of age of Warsaw for 1 count of Rape 1st (Class B Felony), 3 counts of Rape 3rd (Class E Felony), Criminal Sexual Act 3rd (Class E Felony) and 3 counts of Sexual Misconduct (Class A Misd). It is alleged that beginning in May of 2011, and continuing until October of 2011, MARSHALL had engaged in illegal sexual activity with 3 different Wyoming County females whom he had befriended. These alleged crimes took place at residences in both the Village of Warsaw and the Town of Covington in Wyoming County. MARSHALL was arrested and processed at the Warsaw Station before being arraigned before the Hon. MICHAEL GRIFFITH, Wyoming County Court Justice. Following this arraignment he was remanded to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $50,000.00 bail. Troopers were assisted with this investigation by the Warsaw Village Police.

New York State Police Amity arrest 3rd defendant in a recent rash of burglaries

On Friday,the New York State Police in Amity arrested Ronnie L. Farrow Sr.. Farrow is the third defendant charged in a recent rash of burglaries in the southeast portion of Allegany County and Northern Pennsylvania. Numerous thefts of ATV’s and other property have been occurring since September of 2011. Farrow, 52 of Andover NY has been charged with two counts of burglary in the Town of Wellsville, one count of burglary, two counts of criminal possession of stolen property 3rd, one count of criminal possession of stolen property 4th, two counts of criminal possession of stolen property 5th, one count of grand larceny 4th and one count of petit larceny, all in the Town of Andover. Several ATV’s, two snowmobiles and approximately 200 additional items have been recovered to date. Farrow was arraigned in the Town of Scio Court and remanded to the Allegany County jail in lieu of $25,000 bail

State Police in Amity make arrests in recent burglaries

The New York State Police in Amity arrested two subjects relative to a recent rash of burglaries in the southeast portion of Allegany County and northern Pennsylvania. Numerous thefts of ATVS and other property have been occurring since September of 2011. Ronnie L. Farrow Jr., 25 years old, from the town of Willing was arrested for two counts of Burglary 3^rd Degree in the T/Wellsville, 3 counts of Burglary 3^rd 2 counts of Grand Larceny 4^th and Petit Larceny in the town of Andover, 2 counts of Burglary 3^rd, 1 count of Grand Larceny 3^rd and 1 count of Grand Larceny 4th in the T/Willing, and 1 count of Burglary 3^rd in the T/Alma. Joshua D. Milne-Dunne, 26 years old, from the town of Willing was arrested for Grand Larceny 3^rd and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3^rd in the T/Willing. Numerous items of stolen property were recovered which included 5 ATV’s, lawn mowers, tools and proceeds from burglaries that occurred in New York and Pennsylvania. The defendants were arraigned in the village of Andover Court and remanded to the Allegany County jail in lieu of $7,500 cash bail/$15,000 bond. The State Police in Amity were assisted by members of the SP Lyons station, Pennsylvania State Police in Coudersport, the town of Andover PD, the town of Willing PD and the village of Wellsville PD. Additional charges and arrests are pending.

Olean man charged with Burglary in the T/Hinsdale

On Wednesday 11/23/11, The New York State Police in Olean, with the assistance of the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Department, arrested Joshua P. Tyler, Age 26, of the city of Olean. Tyler was charged with Burglary 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance 7th Degree in relation to a residential burglary in the Town of Hinsdale.
Joshua P. Tyler was arraigned in the Town of Hinsdale and remanded to Cattaraugus County Jail on 10,000 bail.

Troopers warn public of scam directed at the elderly

The New York State Police want to remind people throughout the year and especially during the holiday season to be very cautious of telemarketer and on-line fraudulent activity. During the holiday season there are many legitimate worthy causes seeking contributions. Unfortunately there will always be criminals trying to take advantage of peoples kindness and generosity. Prior to making any donation or gift, verify the information.
Another fraud that has been reported time after time and just appeared again is geared at the elderly. The grandparent will get a call from aperson pretending to be in trouble or in jail, needing money wired to get them out of trouble or jail. The caller will even appear to have a legitimate reason for grandma or grandpa not to tell mom or dad because it would upset them too much or I want to tell them face to face. And of course that generation thinks admirably of their grandchild for wanting to own up to what they have done face to face rather than over the phone, so the grandparents believe it.
Recently an elderly couple wired $9,000 cash to what they thought was their grandson. A day later they found their grandson of course was fine and was never in any kind of trouble.
Anyone who may have received any phone calls that sound like this, is asked to call the State Police.

State Police in Painted Post arrest man for homicide in Corning, NY

The New York State Police in Painted Post are currently investigating a homicide that occurred in the Town of Corning, Steuben County. On Thursday, at approximately 7:20pm, Troopers were called to 3445 College Avenue in Corning and discovered the a 53 year old female deceased. Delores A. Warner, was found dead in her residence, by State Police Thanksgiving night.

The body was removed by the Steuben County Coroner and transported to the Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

At approximately 3:30pm Friday State Police Investigators located and arrested Joseph Dixon, age 49, Ms. Warner's former live-in boyfriend.

Mr. Dixon was arrested for Manslaughter 1st Degree and arraigned and commited to the Steuben County Jail no bail.

On November 23, 2011, The New York State Police conducted a Sobriety Road Check on State Route 60 & 62 in the Town of Kiantone. More than 120 vehicles passed through the road check and 22 Vehicle and Traffic Law citations were issued. Also arrested was Adam D. Lavere DOB: 6/11/54 of 9725 Pigeon Valley Road, Little Valley, NY for Driving While Intoxicated. Arrested for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana was Larico R. Jones DOB: 1 /29/86 of Jamestown, NY, Joseph Durusky DOB: 1/21/94 of 6688 Holiday Dr. Boston, NY, and Zachary Broch DOB: 6/7/94 of 9070 Boston State Rd. Boston, NY. All defendants were processed and released to appear in court at a later date.
