Some Cattaraugus County lawmakers want Seneca gaming left alone....propose resolution

Gov. Cuomo says New York could realize over $1 billion of new economic activity if it expanded gambling in the state. But some Cattaraugus County lawmakers want the state to honor the exclusivity zone of the Seneca Nation of Indians and other tribes. Legislators Howard VanRennselaer and James Boser are sponsoring a resolution to be presented at two county committee’s tomorrow.  The resolution notes that the county has experienced significant economic growth and direct financial benefits from the Nations’s endeavors. The lawmakers don’t oppose new gaming in other areas of the state…but they do not support non-Indian gaming locally.
